One Week to go

As strange as that sounds, it is true.

Next Friday is the last official day of the program. I won't be leaving until Saturday, but it will be early Saturday morning, and I will quite a drive to get through. It seems strange to think about packing up again. In some ways, I feel as though I have been here a lot longer than I actually have.

I have watched over 40 films in class, at screenings, and on my own that I had not seen before this summer. That number will continue to increase at least a little bit before next Friday.

My screenplay is to page 29 at the moment. I couldn't believe that I got some positive feedback in class last night. Maybe it's not awful after all. Or maybe it is and everyone's just tired of it.

I will be a little sad to leave, I think. For the most part, I have enjoyed being here. My house mates have been mostly fun. I think I would like to come back next summer and continue. I don't know how that might work, and what I would do with this later, but it seems like a worthwhile place to be.

This week, director Marleen Gorris has been here on campus. We are screening a third film of hers tonight. We watched Antonia's Line on Wednesday, a film which won the best foreign film Oscar in 1995 or 1996. It blew me away. The story is amazing. She has blown me away every time I've listened to her speak or spoken with her personally.

I don't know. I've got some difficult decisions to make.
