Yesterday afternoon I sat on the couch with Children's Lit Guy for a couple of hours. We were knitting. Yes. Knitting. I did not know until this weekend that I had a crafty bone in my body. But CLG can knit, and he decided he would offer to teach a couple of the other people in the house -- including me. He took us to find the cheapest needles and yarn that we could, which inevitably put us in the middle of Wal-Mart. Sigh.
It was slow-going at first. I had to go through several stops, froggings, and restarts. And then, all of sudden, a day or two ago it just clicked. And so I have been knitting.
Yesterday, while sitting on the couch, CLG taught me how to change yarn colors in the middle of a project. My scarf now has one green block and one gray block, and this morning a new green block is slowly being born.
But CLG and I had a good laugh at ourselves. The TV had been turned and left on where a soap opera was running. And there we were, one on each end of the couch, knitting needles in hand.
We laughed at ourselves for temporarily becoming a couple of little old ladies, and then changed the channel.

Knitting looks so much trickier than crocheting to me (especially for a lefty), but I like knitted things.
Happy knitting.
