Photos from Quedlinburg

Quedlinburg is a small town in almost dead-center Germany. A small group of us went there as a day trip for the last day of the program, so I guess this is me kind of working backwards through the pictures. We had a nice day. It rained a little. The town is small and is full of the traditional-looking "Fachwerkhäuser" that are sometimes (though not always consciously) thought of when people think of Germany.
This is a view of the castle, which we visited. It is partially a museum, and there was an art exhibit there as well that particular day. But climbing up the hill allowed us to see a great view of the town.
There it is, with Honors Program Director looking on. The sky was somewhat overcast, but I still like this photo.
This is looking down over the ledge at the houses directly below. These are the kind of houses I'm talking about. One could tell that this city suffered very little to no bombing in World War II, as there were no gaps between the houses.
A closer view of the town. It was a quaint little place. I wouldn't mind going back, but I don't think I would ever want to live there.
